Summary of Position

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing aspects of the financial operations and employee relations working closely with and reporting directly to the company President.

Responsibilities include the accurate and timely preparation and analyses of all facets of the financial operations of the company. Duties will include financial statement preparation, cash management, budget preparation, variance analyses, and tracking of accounts receivable, and accounts payable. It may include other fiscally related duties to assist in allocating tasks evenly across the team to drive team performance and results to meet the company's goals.

Achieves accounting operational objectives by ensuring compliance with regulations while verifying the integrity and accuracy of timely financial data. Contributes financial information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Manages day to day activities of the general accounting functions and aspects including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, credit card expense report reconciliation
• Daily preparation of Cash reconciliation and transaction reporting management and forecasting including international wires, ACH payments, cash receipts and line of credit transactions
• Oversee preparation of the detailed monthly financial statements and timely completion of month end close and work papers
• Prepare trial balance and related reports
• Reconcile accounting inaccuracies and imbalances
• Monthly coordination with Parent company, overseas offices and other divisions
• Reconciliations of intercompany expenses and billing
• Responsible for inventory accounting maintenance and validation, valuation and reconciliation
• Monthly preparation and reconciliation of Sales agent's sales data and commission calculation for payment and reporting
• Regularly prepares and maintains various supporting schedules for Fixed Assets, Prepaid Assets and Accrued Liabilities
• Assists with coordination and the preparation of budgets, forecast, and budget to actual analysis
• Prepare State Sales & Use Taxes: monthly, quarterly, and semi-annually or annually
• Prepare and file various detailed reports, including Chicago Use Tax and Misc-1099 tax filings
• Coordinates with the President to plan and prepare reports to implement the company's financial strategies and organization objectives and missions
• Assist in the preparation of information required and related to corporate tax return and work papers
• Evaluation and recommendations of improvement and streamlines accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with overall goals of the organization
• Maintains files and comply with record retention requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• CPA preferred
• Minimum 5 years prior work experience in accounting with managerial or supervisory capacity
• Experience in a sales driven customer service organization in manufacturing or distribution of consumer goods
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP standards and regulations

Specific Skill Requirements

• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Experience with ERP systems and databases. (Aptean / Apprise systems a Plus)
• Ability to merge and manipulate data that transfers to the appropriate forms for analysis
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Possess well-developed interpersonal and communication, verbal and written skills
• Strong prioritization and time management skills and feels comfortable taking initiative in order to deliver results
• Highly motivated and have the ability to function independently and juggle concurrent demands and perform multifaceted projects
• Ability to supervise, manage and lead others
