Taft Museum of Art is Hiring an Accountant Near Cincinnati, OH

Position: Accountant
Team: Finance Team
Reports to: Senior Manager of Accounting
Status: Exempt/Full-time
Hours Per Week: 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation: Starting at $40,000-$55,000 annually, competitive, and commensurate with experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting and working closely with the CFO, the Senior Accountant assists the Finance Team with key accounting activities to produce accurate and timely financial statements. They ensure that all financial transactions are entered into the financial system accurately and adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). As a member of the Finance team, the Senior Accountant provides support for various Finance Department projects and initiatives. In addition to this, the Senior Accountant analyzes financial information and informs management of the best practices in accounting, and trains staff on important finance processes and procedures.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares and enters journal entries into the general ledger.
  • Completes A/P Process - via Beanworks, Payments via ACH.
  • Completes A/R Process – enter cash receipts and invoices via QuickBooks.
  • Performs Vendor setups in the accounting and banking systems.
  • Process Deposits via Electronic Deposit Manager (EDM).
  • Processes credit card entries.
  • Assists with year-end and month-end closings.
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations.
  • Updates supporting schedules.
  • Audit preparation and assists with external auditors.
  • Promotes ideas to increase efficiencies and recent technologies that benefit the department.
  • Participates in special projects both Team and Individual.
  • Performs other tasks as requested by the Sr. Manager of Accounting or CFO.
  • Trains staff on key financial procedures.
  • Administers company credit card program.
  • Administers USPS bulk mail account and Pitney Bowes postage meter account.
  • Maintains and reconciles petty cash funds.
  • Other duties may be assigned or assumed.
REQUIRED SKILLS & CAPABILITIES
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, thoroughness, and organization.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer and Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Word, Excel, Adobe and Quickbooks.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial reports.
  • Elevated level of understanding of sales tax regulations.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver tasks on due dates.
  • Continuously look at ways to improve processes to lower costs.
  • Ensure staff follows current museum processes to prevent loss of productivity.
  • Train staff to ensure compliance on
  • 3 years of AP/AR or general accounting experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
  • Quickbooks and/or Beanworks experience desired.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure of tight deadlines
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business fields.
  • At least two years’ experience in a staff accounting role or related work.
