STRIVE is active in 14 U.S. locations: in four directly-operated sites and through 10 licensed partners across the country. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Grant Accountant will oversee the financial administration of a diverse portfolio of STRIVE private and public grants and contracts. Ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with funder agency and STRIVE regulations, the role involves precise and timely management of financial data, preparation of reports and billings, tracking funding and receivables, and participation in account close-out. The Grant Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining compliance with GAAP and funder reporting requirements while actively contributing to process improvement initiatives, providing customer support, and facilitating internal and external audits. Special projects and additional responsibilities are undertaken as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare monthly and quarterly invoices and other reporting for contracts.
· Maintain tracking systems of contracts monthly billing and redesign as needed to ensure proper invoicing.
· Manage, update, and oversee maintenance and organization of all grant documents (e.g., narratives, financials, agreements, amendments, reports, and invoices) in electronic filing systems.
· Review and maintain monthly expenses and salary allocation reports and supporting documentation.
· Assist with the preparation of contract budgets and budget modifications.
· Assist with agency audits, contract annual audits, and oversee interim monitoring visits and document preparation as needed.
· Follow up with contract representatives on contract billing issues.
· Collaborate with the Development & Program teams in developing budgets for grant proposals and expenditure reports.
· Develop and maintain controls that support identifying potential issues early in the life cycle of an active award – budget variance reports, forecasts, sub-recipient monitoring and activity reports, funding availability reports, etc.
· Monitor contract accounts receivable and communicate with funders as necessary.
· Prioritize assignments to keep multiple projects moving promptly and to meet internal and external deadlines.
· Additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
· A bachelor's degree and at least three years of related accounting experience required.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
· Comfortable working with databases and computerized financial systems.
· Ability to identify priorities in a high-pressure, short-deadline environment.
· Demonstrated efficiency and diplomacy in managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
· Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral communication.
· Ability to work well with all levels of employees.
· Flexible nature with sound judgment.
· Open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization.

Location: The position operates within a hybrid workweek, with in-person days in our East Harlem, New York City office. There is the potential for occasional travel to existing STRIVE office locations and new expansion locations.
