STRIVE Fresh Start is a STRIVE-operated program designed to address the full range of challenges involved in helping formerly incarcerated adults make successful transitions back to their local communities and economies. Building on STRIVE’s innovative service model and well-established career readiness supports, STRIVE Birmingham will operate a comprehensive, community-integrated re-entry programs to provide services to approximately 50-100 adults a year, ages 25 and older. 

POSITION SUMMARY 

Under the direction of the Fresh Start Program Manager, the Career Skills Instructor delivers STRIVE’s intensive career readiness curriculum to a cohort of STRIVE students who are justice impacted adults. The Career Skills Instructor facilitates this training in the first three to four weeks of each program cycle through live, in-person and virtual instruction aligned to occupational skills training. STRIVE career readiness training focuses on attitude, accountability, personal responsibility, workplace ethics, professional etiquette, and interpersonal skills, which aims to not only help individuals land a job but build a career. This is an in-office position.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Delivers lessons and facilitate various instructional modules in STRIVE’s Fresh Start curriculum program, which includes motivational sessions, attitudinal training, goal setting, orientation to workplace expectations, conflict resolution, sexual harassment, and communication skills.

· Maintain familiarity with STRIVE’s evidence-based Career Path curriculum that promotes workforce readiness standards and career exploration, incorporating key components that will benefit Fresh Start program participants and alumni where needed. 

· Regularly conduct workshop orientations for program participants outlining the career readiness and occupational skills program experience.

· Establish and maintain a weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedule of instruction.

· Develop and implement activities that supplement life skills curriculum teachings and supports career pathway pursuits and exploration.?

· Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.

· Complete weekly case notes to document student progress.

· Organize and obtain training procedure manuals and course materials such as handouts and visual materials to be given to students as needed.

· Maintain documentation, attendance records in STRIVE cloud-based CRM, and provide access to resources for wraparound support.

· Enter and maintain student data in STRIVE cloud-based CRM including, but not limited to: cohort enrollments, cohort attendance, and cohort completions.

· Partner with key team members to present workshops to prepare students for job search.

· Foster a welcoming and supportive classroom environment (either in-person, hybrid, or remote) for program participants. 

· Additional responsibilities as needed. 

Qualifications, Education, and Experience: 

· Bachelor's degree required, plus minimum experience of two (2) years in job readiness, adult education, workforce development, or comparable work experience.

· Ability to interact positively with a variety of personalities and socio-economic populations and to maintain confidentiality; Professional experience with the re-entry of formerly incarcerated individuals and adults required. 

· Specialize in classroom management, facilitation, resume creation, and interviewing techniques.

· Knowledge of the local labor market and employer requirements. 

· Act as an example of professionalism to participants by dressing appropriately, and always starting and completing sessions on time.

· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

· Proficient in entering data into cloud-based CRM software such as Salesforce, Apricot, or other comparable platforms

· High level of comfort interacting with and incorporating data reports into service delivery.

· Must have a high energy level with excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

· Must be flexible and able to assess the needs of the client and can keep calm and reason during stressful situations. 

· Bilingual speaking abilities is a plus. 

Location: This is an in-office position in our Birmingham, Alabama office.
