JOB SUMMARY: With guidance from the VP of Risk Management, the Casualty Claims Manager is management level position that leads a team in handling claims open to close. This role is responsible as both individual contribution as well as leading a team for directly handling complex, high dollar claims on behalf of a large refrigerated truckload carrier. The successful candidate must be willing to handle all levels of claims and interact directly with our drivers, claimants, claims adjusters, other department personnel, and senior management.

The position is located in Dallas, Texas and is not remote but does not require travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Investigates the facts and circumstances of each claim, evaluates the findings and makes settlement decision within authority level
• Serves as point of contact with respective parties, i.e., claimants, insurance companies, attorneys, pertinent to settlement negotiations and settlements 
• Communicates with adjusters, appraisers and Stevens Transport Shop management to ensure photos are taken of damage to vehicles, replacement part prices are competitive, and labor costs are appropriate to repairs
• On an as needed basis, reviews claim file for activity and disposition; ensures settled claim files and non active claim files placed into closed or non-active file status
• On a daily basis, ensures all claim activity recorded in claim “diary”; maintains claims “diary”
• Communicates with owner operators regarding accident claims
• Responds to phone call regarding accidents and records accident information onto accident information form
• Reviews accident reports and makes determination concerning liability and value 
• Supervisory Responsibilities Assign Direct multiple independent adjusters; as needed
• Reviewing claim file for activity and disposition
• Assist in identification of Team's KPI's and the management thereof
• Review and establish best practices in regards to Risk Mitigation efforts
• Work closely with other internal divisions such as Safety, Driver Training, Risk, Operations and other Division leaders on proactive coaching measures for preventing future claim issues.

• 10 years of experience of auto adjusting, preferably in commercial auto liability
• Supervising, Critiquing the work of other adjusters
• Mentoring/Training other adjusters
• Reviewing and approving work of other adjusters
• Comprehensive knowledge of auto liability claims process
• Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently
• Ability to interface with internal and external customers in a pleasant manner on an ongoing basis
