Our staff counsel office is seeking a Paralegal to join our growing team in Dallas, TX. This is a hybrid opportunity. This is a Full Time/Non-Exempt role. POSITION OVERVIEW:The Paralegal is responsible for supporting the attorneys in the preparation and coordination of all discovery functions and providing general legal support IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Prepare final legal papers and correspondence of a legal nature such as summonses, complaints, motions and subpoenas from draft, forms, or templates. Coordinate meetings. Perform other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, composing and typing routine correspondence and reading and routing incoming mail. File correspondence and legal documents in the Staff Counsel Case Management System, Legal Files. Ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents. Prepare and send out initial discovery package to Plaintiffs and codefendants including the answer, interrogatories, requests for production and notices of depositionsDiary and draft routine motions to move discovery along at an aggressive pacePerform investigative duties including the interviewing of clients and possible witnesses who were interviewed by claims prior to suitPerform as an alter-ego to the attorney, answering routine inquiries from claims and the clientAct as a point person assisting in routine trial and arbitration preparation. Coordinate and prepare responses to subpoenas seeking documents and other information Assist with preparation of discovery responses in litigationAdminister the litigation hold and electronic discovery processes in collaboration with the Company’s Office of the General CounselPerform various administrative tasks such as preparing litigation reports, creating/ maintaining legal databases and document archives and responding to routine inquiries and other usual and routine paralegal activities as needed. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: 3-5 years related experience is preferred.Must have a valid driver's license, an acceptable MVR and an ability to maintain confidentiality.Experience with CT & MA court systems preferredPossesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of moderately difficult assignments.Works well with others and establishes sound working relationshipsusually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters.Has latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.May be assigned to a particular project and be accountable for reporting on project statusComputer (MS Office) and word processing proficiency Desired skills and experience:Able to work in a team environment with other attorneys, adjusters and other claims professionals and support staff.Associates degree in paralegal studies from an America Bar approved program or certificate from an approved paralegal program.Strong organizational skills / Ability to prioritize tasks.Good communication skills, written and verbal.Demonstrates a willingness to do usual and customary legal tasks asked and stretches to increase skill sets and abilities to meet goalsFamiliarity with Court system and civil procedure.Familiarity with tort and insurance practice and laws.Familiarity with the Internet and other sources for investigative purposes.
