Position: Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise the creation of construction documents, including drawings and specifications, ensuring the application of sound principles in structural engineering.
• Effectively manage projects, including developing estimates, adhering to budgets, and creating project plans and schedules.
• Coordinate work with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical support and guidance.
• Understand and apply construction practices in Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering.
• Lead projects as a project manager or discipline lead.
• Support business development through proposals, customer meetings, and interviews.
• Provide work direction to team members, including subcontractors.
• Offer technical and engineering support to other departments.
• Act as a mentor to less experienced team members, providing guidance and training.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Minimum 7 years of experience
• Proficiency in structural analysis software like RISA or similar
• Strong communication and influencing skills
• Ability to build rapport and credibility with customers and stakeholders
• Experience in structural design for complex projects in industrial process plants (e.g. biofuel, ethanol, concrete silos)
• Structural experience with steel and concrete

REQUIRED EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural design is required. A Master's degree in structural engineering is preferred. Professional Engineering registration in Minnesota is preferred.
