Stearns Weaver Miller, a full-service commercial law firm with five offices across Florida, is currently searching for a Sr. Systems Engineer. This position will be based in the Miami office and the ideal candidate will be highly- motivated, dedicated, and experienced team member who has the ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions. This position requires proficiency in designing, implementing, administering, and supporting a wide range of technology found in a large enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and upgrades IT infrastructure including servers, switches, routers, firewalls, SAN, and change control processes
• Continually evaluates the firm’s computer systems for overall health and performance, making recommendations as appropriate
• Apply software upgrades, security patches and maintenance for all systems
• Conducts advanced troubleshooting and performs root cause analysis on complex issues
• Creates and maintains clear, concise documentation of hardware inventory and configuration, software configuration, repair and maintenance history and procedures
• Research emerging technologies and recommends improvements to core technologies and architecture to achieve higher performance, increased availability, and better security
• Mentors IT staff functions and will provide support to both attorneys and staff
• Some traveling to other region offices

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Excellent troubleshooting skills across desktops, servers, storage and networking
• Strong organizational, project planning and time management skills with the ability to Independently manage projects as assigned
• Knowledge with a variety of industry related technologies, best practices, standards and procedures
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
• Ability to find innovative solutions to technology challenges
• Strong interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with attorneys, staff and team members
• Ability to work hours necessary to perform the essential duties and projects

4 Years Required Experience With:

• Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, MS
• Supporting and configuring technologies, g. Citrix XenApp/NetScaler
• Managing Enterprise Backup and DR
• Microsoft Exchange/Outlook
• VMware virtualization and enterprise storage technology
• Check Point firewall configuration and policy management
• Disaster recovery (DR) experience including replication, fail-over and fail-back procedures
• Document Management System experience, a plus
• Experience working in a law firm

Required Education / Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or related specialty; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Certifications desired, g. Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNP, VMware VCP
• Security-related industry certifications a plus
