With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This is a TEMPORARY Part-Time, HOURLY PAID position
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Pathways-Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF), 5640 Lower Richland Blvd, Hopkins, SC 29061.

As the Direct Support Professional II, working under general supervision of the House Administrator, you will assist in the care to residents of the Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF) operated by DMH CRCF Services. Assists mentally ill individuals with caring for themselves in areas of activities of daily living. Reports significant events and suspected abuse immediately according to agency policy and procedures.
Responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional II include but are not limited to:
  • Adheres to SCDMH and DHEC written rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ensures the health and safety of individuals with mental illness. Provides direct hands-on individual care. Provides guidance to residents in the development of activities of daily living skills to include, but not limited to: brushing of teeth, bathing hair care, manicuring, dressing and toileting. Engages residents in daily group activities. Completes all required documentation in compliance with policy and procedures.
  • Assists residents in medication administration and compliance.
  • Assists in the transportation and monitoring ofresidents during all medical appointments, community programs and activities. Obtains documentation of appointments that are given after clinical/PCP appointments provided to CRCF to ensure medical and physical compliance.
  • Performs CRCF cleaning duties to include but not limited to sweeping/mopping, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, dusting etc. Assists in the preparation residents' meals as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

An associate degree and one year of experience in direct support of persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Comments

The selected candidate must have general knowledge of individuals that are psychiatrically impaired. Knowledge of basic safety practices. Physical ability to work with individuals that may be physically aggressive, mentally unstable or medically fragile. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to operate office equipment and to perform basic administrative tasks . Ability to work in a residential facility or assisted living home. Ability to work rotational shifts. Ability to bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, walk, and to lift up to twenty (20) pounds. Possess a valid driver's license and ability to drive a state vehicle is required.
