State of South Carolina is Hiring a Direct Support Professional II / CRCF Kiva Near Columbia, SC

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, KIVA Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF), 200 Bundrick Road, Blythewood, SC 29016.
As the Direct Support Professional II, working under general supervision of the House Administrator, ensures safety and care of residents with mental illness. May provide training and management to Direct Support Professionals. Reports significant events and suspected abuse immediately according to agency policy and procedures.
Responsibilities for this Direct Support Professional II include but are not limited to:
  • Supervises training needs for residents and ensures individual care plans are followed and documented. Adheres to agency written rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Ensures the health and safety of residents while following the assigned behavioral support plan. Provides support with direct hands-on individual care as required. Provides guidance to residents in the development of activities of daily living skills.
  • Completes timely and accurate data collection and/or assessments. Maintains documentation in compliance with agency policy and procedures.
  • May provide guidance and training to Direct Support Professionals and oversee work performance.
  • Assists residents in medication administration and compliance.
  • Transports and monitors residents to off-campus medical appointments, programs and activities. Obtains documentation of appointments that are given after clinical/PCP appointments provided to CRCF to ensure medical and physical compliance.
  • Implements training and serves in programs as outlined in the individual care plan.
  • Performs CRCF cleaning duties to include but not limited to sweeping/mopping, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, dusting etc.
  • Prepares residents' meals as needed.

State Minimum Requirements:
Associate degree and one year of experience in direct support of persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Agency Minimum Requirements:
Associate degree and one year of experience in direct support of persons with mental, intellectual or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work rotational shifts. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Requires frequent lifting up to 20 pounds. Must have valid driver's license and the ability to drive a state vehicle.
