State of South Carolina is Hiring a Direct Support Professional I / CRCF Kiva Near Columbia, SC

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, KIVA CRCF, 200 Bundrick Road, Blythewood, SC 29016
As the Direct Support Professional I, working under general supervision of the House Administrator, working under general supervision of the Administrator, assists in the care to residents of the Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF) operated by DMH CRCF Services. Assists mentally ill individuals with caring for themselves in areas of activities of daily living. Reports significant events and suspected abuse immediately according to agency policy and procedures.
Responsibilities for this Direct Support Professional I include but are not limited to:
  • Adheres to SCDMH and DHEC written rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ensures the health and safety of individuals with mental illness.
  • Provides direct hands-on individual care. Provides guidance to residents in the development of activities of daily living skills to include, but not limited to brushing of teeth, bathing, hair care, manicuring, dressing and toileting.
  • Engages residents in daily group activities.
  • Completes all required documentation in compliance with policy and procedures.
  • Assists residents in medication administration and compliance.
  • Assists in the transportation and monitoring of residents during all medical appointments community programs and activities Obtains documentation of
    appointments that are given after clinical PCP appointments provided to CRCF to ensure medical and physical compliance.
  • Performs CRCF cleaning duties to include but not limited to sweeping/mopping, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, dusting etc. Assists in the preparation of residents' meals as needed.
A high school diploma or GED.
Ability to work rotational shifts. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must have valid driver's license and the ability to drive a state vehicle.
