Job Responsibilities
Coordination of renovation and infrastructure projects for the Department of Facilities Services of the University of South Carolina including overall monitoring of contract administration and the planning, design, bidding, construction, and close out phases of project performance.
Provides assistance to the Director of Infrastructure Construction and Renovation and/or the Associate Vice President of Facilities Management as required to develop and improve office policies, procedures and design standards;
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training ,education, and/or experience. Certification/registration as a professional engineer or architect in South Carolina within 6 months of hiring.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering. SC Contractor's license, certified construction manager (CCM), professional engineer (PE), Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), or Project Management Professional (PMP).
Additional Comments
Knowledge of principles and practices of construction project management, modern architecture, design engineering and facility construction. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the construction and modification of facilities. Knowledge of contract procedures, bidding procedures, architectural agreements and inspection procedures. Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing architectural or civil engineering project management for building or facility renovation projects and campus scale infrastructure construction. Ability to oversee the work of subordinate project managers or consultants. Ability to establish positive working relationships with customers, superiors, subordinates, associates, design and construction consultants. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to prepare, review and revise plans and specifications. Ability to problem solve and utilize conscious decision making. Ability to build teams and involve stakeholders. Typical projects include but are not limited to interior renovations, energy efficiency projects, roofing and exterior replacements, HVAC and electrical upgrades, in ground infrastructure and thermal plant modernizations.
