State of North Carolina is Hiring a Food Service I Instructor Near Wayne, NC

This position is housed in the WorkSource East Facility in Goldsboro. The primary purpose of this position is to prepare individuals with disabilities for employment by teaching a Food Service I curriculum, assist facilitating internship opportunities and development of appropriate work habits. Identify tasks and write training objectives for the Food Service I program. Provide training designed to improve work-related behaviors and work skills.
Provide specific skill training in the area of Food Service I. Training will be carried out in a variety of modalities. Instructor will need to identify if students are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners and make accommodations to the learning environment to maximize success. Provide training through lectures, class discussions, visual and written materials, and hands on activities that will increase the knowledge and ability levels of the students. Collect training supplies and materials including textbooks and regulation guides. Provide written and hands-on tests to assess students and additional needs. Prepare and maintain accurate records including performance evaluations, training participation and attendance.
Instructor must observe/evaluate the students’ behavior patterns, skill level, and progress and know when to make recommendations to the rehabilitation team. To do this, the instructor needs to understand and be able to accommodate a variety of disabling conditions. What is observed is prepared as a written note which becomes part of the Progress Staffing Report. The instructor will also participate in the monthly staffing with the rehab team.

Management Preferences
  • Associate degree from a two-year technical or community college in a related field to the technical area assigned.
  • Experience working in the food service industry.
  • Experience instructing or supervising others.

Physical Requirements
 
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. 
  • Visual acuity to perform an activity such as using a computer and measurement devices, and talking and hearing at normal speaking levels with or without correction. 
  •  Mobility to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp and feel.

Associate’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution in an industrial systems technology area or a related field to the technical area assigned and two years of experience in production, trades, or related work that provides the above knowledge and skills;
OR
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of work experience in production, trades, or related work that provides the above knowledge and skills, preferably providing exposure to the population to be served;
OR
