State of Missouri is Hiring a Research Data Analyst-Budget Unit Near Jefferson, MO

The Division or Finance and Administrative Services (DFAS) is seeking applications for a Research Data Analyst to join our Budget Unit, located in Cole County.

Annual Salary: $52,870.08

Job Location: This position is located at the Broadway State Office Building; 221 West High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.

What you’ll do:

Fiscal Notes (900 annually)

  • Serve as back up to the fiscal note coordinator
  • Assign and submit fiscal notes in the Missouri Legislative Information System (MOLIS)
  • Create fiscal note folders by combining and printing necessary documents
  • Track fiscal notes through final approval by running daily status reports in MOLIS

Tax Credits

  • Review Tax Credit applications and determine eligibility
  • Calculate and approve stock donations for tax credits administered by DSS
  • Complete and maintain monthly and quarterly tax credit reports

Other Duties

  • Monitor House/Senate hearing schedule and calendar as needed
  • Complete and maintain a variety of monthly and quarterly financial expenditure reports
  • Assist with Department rule reviews by monitoring the Outlook email Inbox, creating folders, and tracking rules through the approval process
  • Track State Plan Amendments through approval process and create folders for distribution
  • Administer the physical filing for all approval items
  • Assist in budget activities as requested by the Budget Unit Manager
  • Assist with special projects as requested by the Fiscal Note Coordinator
  • Assist with budget book preparation by collecting Division contacts, working with state printing to order books, and count/distribute books
  • Track expenditures from SAMII for all COVID appropriations

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.).

This position is within the Department of Social Services (DSS) Budget Unit. This unit is responsible for preparing and presenting the Department's $12M annual budget, implementing and monitoring the approved budget, preparing fiscal responses as requested by the Legislative Oversight Division and providing additional information requested by the Office of Administration, Governor's Office, House of Representatives and Senate. This section is also involved with the Department's tax credits and rule making processes.

This is a professional position accountable for developing and assessing the impact of proposed legislation, and presenting findings to senior policy makers and other stakeholders. This position requires strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills with frequent interactions within and outside the budget unit. Individual initiative, solid judgement, discretion regarding sensitive and confidential matters, and customer service skills are required for the tasks assigned. This position requires accuracy, efficiency and attention to details and deadlines.

A successful candidate for this position will actively collaborate with team members and other Divisions within the Department of Social Services.
