The work hours for this position are 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday. Upon completion of the initial training and onboarding period, this position could be eligible to work from home 1-4 days a week.
This position is within the Department of Social Services (DSS) Budget Unit. This unit is responsible for preparing and presenting the Department's $12B annual budget, implementing and monitoring the approved budget, preparing fiscal responses as requested by the Legislative Oversight Division and providing additional information requested by the Office of Administration, Governor's Office, House of Representatives and Senate. This section is also involved with the Department's tax credits and rule making processes.
This is a professional position accountable for developing and assessing the impact of proposed legislation, and presenting findings to senior policy makers and other stakeholders. This position requires strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills with frequent interactions within and outside the budget unit. Individual initiative, solid judgement, discretion regarding sensitive and confidential matters, and customer service skills are required for the tasks assigned. This position requires accuracy, efficiency and attention to details and deadlines.
A successful candidate for this position will actively collaborate with team members and other Divisions within the Department of Social Services. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the legislation and budget within Missouri’s largest state department and gain experience for future career advancement
