State of Missouri is Hiring an Auditor-08.17.22 Near Jefferson City, MO

The Division of Finance and Administrative Services (DFAS) is seeking applications for an Auditor to join our team in the Compliance Services Unit, located in Cole County.

Semi-Monthly: $2,080.63

Annual: $49,935.18

Job Location: This position will be located at 221 West High, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Why you’ll love this position: The Department of Social Services (DSS) partners with families and communities to protect children, rehabilitate youth and move families to self-sufficiency so that Missourians can lead safe, healthy and productive lives.

The work includes analysis of subrecipient and internal financial operations, internal controls, and compliance with federal and state regulations and contractual requirements. This position requires day and overnight travel throughout the state. Although the amount of travel varies, it is estimated to be approximately two to three days per month.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform monitoring of internal and contracted operations in an effort to ensure compliance with contract agreements and federal and state statutes and regulations.
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of internal and contracted operations and controls in fiscal and program management.
  • Formulate recommendations for improved internal controls, policies, techniques, methods, systems and procedures designed to help achieve the goals of the organization and its subrecipients and the objectives of its programs.
  • Prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations of monitoring reviews.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze facts and data which can be used for program and performance improvement.
  • Day trips and overnight travel will be required.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Develop, prepare, and utilize spreadsheets, audit programs, and audit and/or monitoring tools and reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing expenditures of state and federal funds. Skills in critical and analytical thinking and in being detail-oriented. Ability to communicate findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner, meet deadlines, foster a cooperative environment, and promote collaboration.
