State of Missouri is Hiring an Insurance Compliance Specialist (Regulatory Auditor) Near Jefferson City, MO

Minimum Salary: $44,011.68 (commensurate with experience and education)

Job Location: This position is located at the Harry S Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Why is the work you do in this position important to Missouri?

This position serves Missourians by supporting the department’s market conduct team who monitors the insurance marketplace and investigates potential violations of Missouri insurance laws. This position will provide critical information to the team so they can ensure timely and accurate results for the insurance industry and Missouri consumers.

What will you do in this position?

  • Track critical components in the status and progress of investigations, examinations, and enforcement actions and develop reports and dashboards for teams and management.
  • Draft, review, update, and maintain market conduct section processes and procedures.
  • Research and link Missouri statutes and regulations to the NAIC Market Conduct Examination Standards.
  • Review exam reports for appropriate documentation of alleged findings and proper legal citations.
  • Draft proposal letters, stipulations, and orders.
  • Track archived documents for record retention and review them in response to sunshine requests.

What are the qualifications for the position?

Bachelor’s degree with specialization in insurance, risk management, business or public administration or closely related areas; OR four years of professional or technical experience in one or more of the areas described below AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency. Possess strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of projects.

Areas of qualifying experience:

  • Experience in an insurance regulatory agency which involved interpretation, application and/or enforcement of statutes and regulations.
  • Experience in insurance sales, underwriting, policy contract review and/or development, claims adjusting, claims processing, risk management or closely related insurance experience.
  • Experience as a paralegal.

Note: An employee in this position will have the opportunity to obtain insurance designations and to maintain the designations through continuing education. Employment in this position may qualify individuals for the provisions under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
