Job Summary

This position offers a hybrid work schedule which includes telework days and in office days at a DLI office building.

This Project Consultant position is a temporary unclassified position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2024.

This position is responsible for the successful implementation, leadership, and project management of a new US Department of Labor grant called, the Minnesota State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula.

The goals of this grant include:

  • Development and expansion of statewide Registered Apprenticeship program, (RAPs), in new industries through alignment with the education and workforce systems.
  • Provide support to existing RAPs to expand programming through the addition of more apprentices, new occupations, new employers, new service areas, or new industries.
  • Increase diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within RAPs.
  • Strengthen and diversify the statewide apprenticeship system through the full implementation of Registered Apprenticeship Partners Information Database System (RAPIDS) and by improving the State’s overall alignment to the national apprenticeship system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Project management: Coordinate and manage the implementation and completion of the MN-SAFE grant.
  • Grant operations and budget oversight.
  • Grant performance management and reporting.
  • Facilitation and coordination of meetings.
  • Provide the day-to-day operations including, working directly with partners, DLI staff, vendors and, other stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of professional experience* in grant management or project management.

  • Experience includes internships, fellowships, volunteering, and work experience that are directly related to the job duties.

**Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of experience; Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; Associates degree may substitute for six months of experience.

Professional experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of project and grant management principles and best practices.
  • Ability to assess and monitor progress and monitor progress of a grant management or project management lifecycle.
  • Human relation skills that maintain productive working relationships with diverse staff, stakeholders, and clientele.
  • Communication skills to establish and maintain constructive, productive, and positive working relationships.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who may not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or common experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to apprenticeship training.
  • Language skills other than English (Somali, Hmong, Karen or ASL).

Additional Requirements
