Job Summary

This position exists to ensure local education agencies (LEA) and the Department of Education (Department) comply with applicable statutes, policies and procedures, department directives, Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS) reporting requirements, and accounting procedures by conducting complex audits of financial data, staff data, and student data and evaluations of programs that involve state aids and levy programs administered by the Department.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in a monitoring, finance, auditing, accounting, data analysis or school/education operations role;

OR

A bachelor's or master's degree, CPA License, CFE Certification, or CIA certification and two years of experience in a finance, accounting, or school/education operations role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Minnesota school finances and educational funding formulas

  • Knowledge of Minnesota education federal and state laws and rules

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate complex information, information requests, and audit results to diverse audiences

  • Experience obtaining and handling sensitive and/or confidential information

  • Experience verifying compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Experience planning, developing, and conducting audits, monitoring reviews, or desk audits.
