POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide office supervisory support to the Housing and Food Protection Services Programs for the Bureau of Environmental Health. The Office Manager will supervise and coordinate secretarial and clerical support functions for the Housing and Food Protection Services programs consisting of 35 employees including a program manager, program supervisors, registered environmental sanitarians, and secretarial staff. This position supports the Office Supervisor with supervising secretarial and clerical support for the Housing and Food Protection Services programs involving the inspection, licensing and enforcement of food service facilities, bathing beaches, and recreational waters, multiple dwellings, mobile home parks, camps, pet stores, general nuisance complaints, and cashiering services in fulfilling the mission of the Health Department which is to preserve, protect, and promote the health of the citizens of Anne Arundel County.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience supervising lower-level clerical employees.

Notes:

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Experience supervising and leading clerical staff
  • Experience managing the Housing and Food Software Programs such as ACCELA, RISC, ZOO OFFICE (Jadian)
  • Experience with project management such as (coordinating a large food service facility licensing programs)
