The Work You Will Do:
The Division of State Lands, as Florida’s lead agency for environmental management and stewardship, serves as staff to the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund (Governor and Cabinet). As such, the division’s role goes far beyond just acquiring lands for protection. It provides oversight for the management of activities on more than 12 million acres of public lands including lakes, rivers and islands. These public lands help ensure all Florida’s residents and visitors can truly appreciate the state’s unique landscapes.
The Difference You Will Make:
The Revenue Section is responsible for the collection and tracking of all fees and revenue due to the Board of Trustees (BOT) for activities occurring on BOT-owned land. This money comes from asset management, submerged land leases and upland leases and is deposited into the Internal Improvement Trust Fund which helps support our Division as well as other areas in the Department. The Revenue Section also assists District Regulatory staff and provides public education related to fee reporting and collection.

Pay:
$60,000 to $66,000 based on education and experience.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Supervisor will effectively communicate, motivate, train, and evaluate on direct reports work performance, and is responsible for the time and attendance of subordinates.
Supervises and oversees the Division’s revenue activities including billing, collection, and reporting; coordinates activities with DEP District personnel and DEP legal counsel on accounts requiring legal action; tracks performance measures related to revenue collection; analyzes and evaluates data and assists with problem solving.
Supervises, plans, directs, and coordinates the development and maintenance of a revenue collection procedures manual; researches and resolves problems associated with revenue collection and identifies deficiencies; reviews processes/procedures and implements resolutions.
Responsible for assisting with development, implementation and maintenance of systems or programs required to ensure that the revenue collection assignments are properly identified and related tasks completed by deadlines. Provide status reports as requested; identify and advise management in the development of proposed rule/policy amendments for consideration by higher-level management.
Responsible for providing revenue projections for the Internal Improvement Trust Fund.
Performs other work as required/assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: the methods of data collection and analysis; basic management principles; revenue collection. Skilled in:operating a computer and use of Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel. Ability to: supervise employees; collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop recommendations and solve problems, document work flow for improved operational and management practices; organize data into logical format for presentation in reports and written materials; conduct fact-finding research; utilize problem-solving techniques; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operation and management of revenue collection; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; exercise sound independent judgment; supervise; prepare detailed written work and accurate reports; maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees, the general public, and management.
