Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • Serving as lead for the enhancement, maintenance and promotion of the Performance Improvement and Management System (PIMS), which includes data tracking and monitoring of all health improvement and strategic plans, creating reports for state partners and DOH executive staff about progress on performance measures from key agency plans and recruit, orient and provide technical assistance to users of PIMS.
  • Assisting in state-level planning, including facilitating strategic planning with various workgroups in DOH and across other state agencies and organizations.
  • Developing, writing, and editing unit publications including the State Health Improvement Plan and Agency Strategic Plan.
  • Assisting with program performance reviews, include meeting logistics, creating and disseminating tools/templates and providing support as needed.
  • Advising on Florida Health Performs functions and reporting and creates communications and guidelines for state office programs and county health departments to report on performance measures.
  • Performing other duties as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining the security of information and protect confidentiality consistent with state and federal laws and rules and departmental policies, protocols and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The incumbent must possess the following:

  • Knowledge of applied research and/or evaluation methods
  • Knowledge of public health, public administration, health care administration or social services administration
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills to lead and communicate plan goals and objectives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely
  • Ability to communicate expectations, assignments and responsibilities clearly and professionally
  • Ability to write grammatically correct and accurate reports that communicate concise reports
  • Ability to review and analyze agency records and documents
  • Ability to provide effective presentations and information to a broad range of audiences, internal and external to the Department
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and delegate work assignments
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a manager and team member
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred with professional experience in social services, public health, performance management, strategic planning, systems analysis, management analysis, program or policy planning and development, program monitoring or evaluation. The incumbent must also have experience in applying research and evaluation methods, such as collecting, organizing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, identifying and developing findings and areas for improvement, and developing recommendations and approaches to improve performance.

Experience working in or with county health departments is preferred.
