Job Description
This position is open to Alaskan Residents only.

What you will be doing:
As the Project Assistant, you will be responsible for coordinating WIC vendor compliance, to include oversight of routine vendor monitoring, complaint resolution, fraud detection and investigation, monitoring and analyzing benefit redemption, and reporting compliance activities to the USDA Food and Nutrition Service. Additionally, you will conduct research for cost containment and price competitiveness, conduct contract development and other special projects. You will draft policies and procedures, develop and deliver training on WIC vendor operations.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in the historic Goldstein Building in downtown Juneau. You will share an office with one of three members of the vendor unit team. Based on the division's needs, teleworking may be permitted upon completion of probation. The working hours are between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, with some flexibility.

  • This position requires frequent travel to remote communities, which may include transportation by small aircraft, snow machines, four-wheelers, and/or small boats. Occasionally will have to travel out of state.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or experience such as performing research; interpreting data; applying, interpreting, and disseminating technical, statutory, and/or regulatory requirements; and/or experience in community development, research, social services, economics, public administration, planning, or a closely related field.
