This position is available to State of Alaska residents only.

What you will be doing:

As the DMVA HR Technician you will play a significant role in the Department's recruitment strategy and implementation working with the Department's HR Business Partner. You will guide supervisors through consultations and review recruitment requests, analyze special considerations against regulations and practices and process a variety of HR actions.

You will facilitate the success of a diverse clientele of hiring managers, helping them navigate systems, organized and transparent documentation, regulations and best practices throughout the recruitment process. You will support various HR functions through a process improvement focus, special projects, reports and grow your expertise to serve as an effective HR technical instructor role for DMVA! You will grow your technical HR expertise to embody the spirit of the State of Alaska's Merit Principle and equal opportunity. The working environment you can expect:

The Human Resource Technician 2 position will be located at the National Guard Armory, in the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson military installation (Anchorage-Eagle River). You will join DAS civilian public servants that support the administrative functions of the department, which includes the National Guard, Office of Veterans Affairs, Emergency Management and the Alaska Military Youth Academy amongst others. This requires confidentiality and the ability to work effectively in a combined civilian and military work environment.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check will include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access.

Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. Using a private vehicle will require a valid Alaska Driver's License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

State employees are guests on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson; clearance and access are not within the State's control.

Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

Substitution:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.

Substitution:

One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.

Special Note:

High school graduation "equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D (i.e. passing the General Educational Development test).; 2) completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week); 3) six months of work experience performing duties related to office or clerical support; 4) twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support; 5) highest grade of school completed plus any kind of work experience that totals 12 years or more; or 6) acceptance for admission in full standing by an accredited college or university.

"Human resource" work includes experience in recruitment and selection, classification, employee training, employer provided benefits programs, employment law compliance, personnel, payroll, or employee or labor relations.

At the time of interview, you must provide:

* A list of two professional references, one of whom must have directly supervised your work performance.

* Copies of at least one performance evaluation(s). Alternatively, you may substitute with at least one professional letter(s) of reference if evaluations are not available.
