State of Alaska is Hiring a Human Resource Technician 1 (PCN 060041M) Near Anchorage, AK

The Division of Finance is currently offering a hire incentive bonus of up to
 $4,000.00 to newly hired Human Resource Technician (HRT 1-3) positions. 
The incentive bonus will be paid in two equal installments, less mandatory deductions. Employees will be eligible for the first installment after successful completion of 90 days. Employees will be eligible for the second and final installment after the employee’s successful completion of probation. To receive an incentive, employees are expected to agree to a two-year term of employment with the Division of Finance.

The Department of Administration, Division of Finance, is recruiting for multiple Human Resource Technician 1 positions located in Anchorage or Juneau!
These positions are in the Confidential Unit (CEA) at a range 12.
What You Will Be Doing: This position independently processes and audits routine personnel and payroll documents for assigned agencies requiring interpretation and application of applicable bargaining unit agreements, statutes and personnel rules. This includes providing technical information and assistance/direction to managers and employees on related personnel and payroll issues.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:These positions will be filled in either Juneau or Anchorage. We are located in the Michael J. Burns building, close to the Juneau/Douglas bridge, or at the Atwood Building located in downtown Anchorage. This is a fast paced work environment with duties changing daily based on the needs of the payroll cycle.

To be successful in the position, the ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:
  • Work history that reflects use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Work history that reflects experience with accounting and/or payroll processing;
  • Work history that reflects experience in a lead position, directing the work of others;
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidential information;
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task while working within a changing environment;
  • Ability to compare data from a variety of sources for accuracy and completeness, identify discrepancies, and make corrections.

Graduation from high school or the equivalent and six months of advanced clerical experience. 

Substitution: 

Six months of postsecondary education (16 semester hours or 24 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals six months) in any field may substitute for the specific experience.

Special Note:  

High school graduation "equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D (i.e. passing the General Educational Development test).; 2) completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week); 3) six months of work experience performing duties related to office or clerical support; 4) twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support; 5) highest grade of school completed plus any kind of work experience that totals 12 years or more; or 6) acceptance for admission in full standing by an accredited college or university.
