Sales & Event Coordinator
Springhill Suites Dallas Stemmons Trail is seeking a Sales & Event Coordinator to join our team.
Job Description:
The Sales & Event Coordinator fills a vital role in supporting the hotel’s financial goals with the primary responsibility of achieving sales goals by implementing sales and marketing programs in assigned markets. This position focuses on generating new business for the hotel as well as effectively managing existing client accounts.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
1. Must have the ability to provide professional and courteous guest service.
2. Must have good time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
3. Must have good organizational skills, the ability to multitask and strong attention to detail.
4. Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate both verbally and in writing. Must have demonstrated business communication skills.
5. Must have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with clients.
6. Must have strong interpersonal leadership skills, the ability to delegate tasks, and set goals.
7. Must have a strong working knowledge of computers, math skills and the ability to handle monetary transactions.
8. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
9. One to two years of experience in the hotel industry, business management or similar discipline required.
10. Previous hotel sales experience preferred, but not required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists all guests in a professional and courteous manner.
2. Performs job duties and responsibilities in a cost-effective manner and within budgetary guidelines.
3. Prospects, qualifies, saturates, penetrates, and manages business opportunities in assigned markets.
4. Develops sales goals specific to market segment in conjunction with the of General Manager. Analyzes markets to determine opportunities and creates strategies to increase revenue.
5. Collaborates with the General Manager on ways to utilize marketing, social media and local networks to build revenue. Creates strategic plans around the marketing tools utilized to maximize growth.
6. Supplies necessary reports to the General Manager regarding sales productivity within given deadlines.
7. General Manager to create and utilize an annual Sales and Marketing Plan that supports the overall budget and revenue goals for the hotel.
8. Maximizes guest room and/or meeting space revenue through negotiations with clients while staying within the guidelines set by the Director of Sales and/or General Manager.
9. Builds relationships through community involvement, working with the General Manager to determine which organizations within the hotel’s community are appropriate to affiliate with.
10. Utilizes the CRM database system to track and manage information for existing and prospective clients.
11. Conducts property site tours and outside sales calls as needed to create a trusting relationship with clients.
12. Ensures that all documentation is complete and correct for existing and prospective clients.
13. Communicates information regarding new bookings, corporate accounts, and other pertinent sales information to appropriate departments in an efficient and effective manner.
14. Ensures client satisfaction by following up on booked business in a timely manner to confirm the hotel is meeting the client’s needs. Maintains contact with previous clients to determine future business needs.
15. Investigates guest comments as necessary and promptly resolves all issues in conjunction with the General Manager.
16. Seeks information from clients to build stronger relationships and provide them with customized lodging solutions.
17. Understands and applies all hotel safety and security procedures as required to maintain a safe and secure environment for employees and guests.
18. Keeps supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken.
19. Performs all other duties as assigned.
20. Coordinate and plan all aspects of events including, but not limited to, weddings, corporate functions, private parties and other special events.
21. Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the event coordinator.
22. Work with the Director of Sales to ensure that all event details are up to date and on track.
23. Manage the flow of events throughout the year by coordinating set up and tear down for events.
24. Ensure that all event information is accurate and up to date.
25. Assist with set up for events by checking in guests at the door, distributing invitations, refreshments, etc.
26. Assist with day-to-day operations of events by performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates offered employment will be required to submit to a background check and drug test.
