Description

Position Supervision:

  • This position reports to the Director of Mentorship. 
  • This position does not supervise other staff. 

Job Description:

The Mentorship Program Case Manager oversees all tasks involved in interviewing, training, monitoring, and managing mentorship matches. This person is an integral member of Sponsor’ Mentorship team.

Job Responsibilities:

Manages and continuously develops mentoring relationships.

  1. Screens and interviews mentors and mentees.
  2. Utilizes the information gathered in mentor and mentee applications and interviews to create the most effective matches.
  3. Conducts initial mentorship match meetings and final match closure meetings.
  4. Contacts mentors and mentees every two weeks to check in and provide guidance and support to the mentor match as needed.
  5. Monitors compliance with parole requirements and Mentorship Program policies.
  6. Works with institutions to track release dates, schedule video conferencing meetings, and obtain other information about a client’s release status and needs.
  7. Communicates with parole officers, treatment professionals, other Sponsors’ staff, and professionals in the community regarding mentees and keeps a record of those conversations in the database and on the Matches Sheet.
  8. Submits a short Match of the Month article by the 25th of each month.

Attends required meetings, trainings, and events

  1. Facilitates monthly Mentorship Orientations.
  2. Attends Mentorship Program staff meetings, Matches Sheet review meetings, all-staff meetings, and Mentorship Program Speaker Events.
  3. Attends one to two Mentorship Program recreational events each month, which usually occur on weekends and evenings.
  4. Attends meetings with other Sponsors programs/departments and community partners as needed.
  5. Attends required training as necessary.

Maintains match data in the Matches Sheet and in Sponsors’ database.

  1. Logs notes and match data (i.e. open/closure dates) into the database in a regular, timely, and accurate manner.
  2. Provides appropriate data and reports to assist in program evaluation.­­­­­

Requirements

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain work momentum independently and prioritize tasks with timelines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with community participants and partners, volunteers, and colleagues. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and uphold clear professional boundaries with participants and community partners in sensitive, confidential situations. 

Education and Experience:

  • 1 year of experience working with participants in a social service program. 
  • Previous experience with mentors/mentees, volunteer coordination, or case management preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Degree or coursework in social services preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Works in a shared office environment.
  • Frequent noise and interruptions from coworkers, department administrators, program participants.
  • May be outdoors during events. 
  • Occasional travel to Mentorship Program events within the Lane County area. 

Physical Demands:

  • Sits at a desk or in an office environment for extended periods of time.
  • Uses a computer to save and retrieve information for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to lift objects up to 25 lbs. infrequently for event set-up and tear-down.
  • Performs work outdoors periodically for tours, event staffing, and infrequent job activities. 

Compensation: $18.00-20.00/hour

FLSA Classification: non-exempt; FTE: 1.0
