The Engineering Manager supervises a team of 4-6 engineers and is responsible for managing design workflows, project/contract management, and scrutinizes engineering design plans to ensure impeccable compliance with codes and standards. The engineering manager defines the technical objectives of projects and establishes timelines. He/She will also approve, improve and implement various changes in products and designs.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret contract documents to ensure that the proposal is within the scope of the contract.
- Participates in developing and designing solar projects to include disconnect boxes and harness
- Participates in the "hand off" meeting with the operating team to ensure understanding of project scope and the engineering deliverables to ensure timely and accurate manufacturing of products.
- Provide guidance on BOM creation and completion of quotes and submittal packages
- Engage with the procurement group to support them by providing details regarding material requirements and timelines to allow procurement to seek competitive proposals.
- Improves efficiencies within the engineering department through effective internal and external communication.
- Offer new ideas for product development and improvement.
- Provide oversight and guidance to the engineering staff.
- 5-8 years in solar industry
- Effective communication (oral, written, presentation) skills.
- Exposure to manufacturing regulations and rules.
- Adaptive, problem-solving orientation.
- Experience developing manufacturing drawings and project schedules.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- 25-50% travel required.
- Maintains confidentiality on sensitive topics.
