Description

Summary of the Position:

The Facilities Technician will be responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and plant equipment internally and external to each building in a 24/7 plastics manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager; the Facilities Technician will use data, a systemic approach and work hands on to support and maintain a sustainable proactive and efficient reactive maintenance program for all infrastructure, building and production equipment. The individual will also work as a cross-functional leader on major equipment projects, installation, and continuous improvement teams. Lastly, the Facilities Technician must be able to effectively respond to and support the maintenance demands of a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation.

Functions of the Position

  • Self-directed daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production and plant needs.
  • Establishes preventative maintenance schedules for plant infrastructure and production equipment while continuously improving the preventative maintenance plan as needed.
  • Acts as a technical liaison between various departments, maintaining open lines of communication between maintenance, production, quality, engineering, and supply chain groups.
  • Ensure plant meets OSHA requirements and continually improve safety record by addressing both physical equipment and infrastructure safety issues as well as employee safety attitudes.
  • Aid in setting priorities for the maintenance team to ensure relative maintenance tasks are completed for plant infrastructure equipment.
  • Coordinate work activities with other departments such as Production and Engineering to support daily business objectives including the management of the replacement parts supply chain, labor support pool and work assignments based on short- and long-term business demands and goals.
  • Promote an environment that achieves incident free performance through diligent proactive safety efforts and job safety planning.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safe maintenance of plant and equipment in line with internal and regulatory requirements (site and corporate policies/procedures).
  • Directs daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs.
  • Forecasts operating costs of projects and stays within established budget.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to reduce maintenance costs and improve down time. Develops method to execute approved programs to deliver savings within company quality and safety standards.
  • Utilize technical expertise to support other areas of the business as requested by organizational leadership.

Qualifications


Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • 5 years in a maintenance or facilities technician or maintenance management role preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facility Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in good maintenance practices and coaching skills.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing - Standardized Work, 5S, and TPM.

Skills and Competencies

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Supervisory and team management experience.
  • Able to interact with all levels of management and production personnel.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and re-prioritize as needed.
  • Must be organized and able to maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • General knowledge and usage of CMMS programs (Emaint).
  • Bilingual; English / Spanish preferred.
