THE CHALLENGE

Onward Energy is seeking an experienced financial professional to support the Capital Markets team. The successful candidate will be a key member of a small team that develops and maintains the Company’s strategic long-term corporate and related asset- level valuation models, supports the execution of project and corporate financings, and works on ad-hoc analysis to support the rapid growth of our platform. This is a highly visible position that will provide exposure to corporate finance and project finance strategy while interacting with the C-suite and the Board to directly support the growth of Onward Energy.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with the Manager, Financial Strategy to own the development and maintenance of the strategic long-term corporate model and related valuation models across Onward Energy’s portfolio of wind, solar, gas and battery storage assets.
• Work with internal and external teams and the sponsor to ensure accurate modeling assumptions and financial analysis.
• Develop internal memos and presentations focusing on investment returns, valuation metrics, and sensitivity analysis. Present financial results to senior management and shareholders.

• Provide analytical and modeling capabilities for companywide initiatives including asset sales, asset re-contracting, redevelopment, and other portfolio projects.
• Develop quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy of work product.
• Assist with raising debt for existing assets and acquisition targets, including creating models for lenders and coordinating lender due diligence.
• Analyze investment opportunities from a quantitative and qualitative perspective including valuation modeling (DCF), financial statement analysis, market/industry research, and competitive analysis.
• Other duties as assigned.

THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED

Bachelor’s Degree in finance, engineering, business, economics, or related field.

• 3-5 years of experience in IPP, investment banking, consulting, project finance, development, or asset management in power and utilities with a focus on financial modeling and valuation.
• Excellent financial modeling skills and analytical capabilities.
• Experience in financing or M&A transactions in the power and utilities sector, and/or renewable energy.
• Experience with tax equity financing structures is a plus.
• Familiarity with US power markets with an eagerness to increase power market knowledge.
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
• Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work under strict deadlines; ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Team player with a “no task is too small” attitude.

THE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to travel up to 10%.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position functions in a smoke and vape free professional office environment. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptop computer, phone, and scanner/photocopier.

This role allows for a flexible work arrangement, with two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) in the office and the freedom to work remotely for the remaining days. Our company provides the necessary technology and support to ensure seamless collaboration and productivity while working remotely.
