SouthPoint Financial Credit Union is Hiring a Business Development Officer Near New, MN

GENERAL SUMMARY

Serves as a Business Development Officer in the Credit Union branch setting. The primary responsibility is to provide excellent service by demonstrating the principals of SouthPoint Financial Credit Union and adhering to the vision of “Empowering People to Enhance Lives”. This position must also support and embody the core values of SouthPoint:

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for serving as the Credit Union’s community relations and business to business development representative in SouthPoint’s key markets by actively identifying, cultivating, and conducting outreach to prospective members and employer partners to increase membership growth, product penetration and develop new business relationships for the credit union. Friendly, professional and personal service toward all SouthPoint Financial Credit Union members is mandatory.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains high visibility and a positive image in the field of membership, with current and prospective members. Builds positive relationships with businesses and community leaders by actively seeking out membership and engagement into SouthPoint’s programs and initiatives.
  • Conducts and facilitates outreach within the area communities to generate membership and Credit Union awareness in the current market geography.
  • Utilizes effective direct selling techniques and market strategies to expand product demand.
  • Generate membership, deposits, loans and business relationships while engaging in the community.
  • Sell products and services to current and potential members within a defined market(s).
  • Works closely with staff and leadership in the market to create, maintain and develop awareness of SouthPoint and its subsidiaries.
  • Works independently conducting activities that result in growth of membership, loans and deposits for SouthPoint and subsidiaries, including but not limited to building effective relationships that contribute to the mission and visibility of SouthPoint Financial Credit Union in the surrounding communities.
  • Attends various meetings in the local and surrounding communities and or trade associations to develop new business prospects and promote the Credit Union.
  • Develops plans and promotional strategies to meet business development goals; coordinates participation in representing the Credit Union at various functions, and community related events.
  • Is responsible for coordinating and carrying out strategies to achieve market and corporate goals as determined by management.
  • Responsible for forecasting, prospecting and developing new business on an annual basis.
  • Build strong professional sales relationships, establish credibility and rapport with professional members of the community as well as current and future members.
  • Use technology to serve members such as opening new membership accounts, creating new loans, servicing existing memberships, and other administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Eager to learn about Credit Union's policies, procedures, programs, products and services as they relate to branch operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  • Attend meetings, seminars, conferences, and training courses related to role and the organization.
  • Engage in local community organizations that promote business opportunities.
  • Abide by all Bank Secrecy Act responsibilities for this job role.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • This high contact position requires the ability to communicate effectively with current and prospective members as well as the positive promotion and representation of our Credit Union brand in the external working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to solicit business including but not limited to Membership, Consumer/Real Estate and Commercial/Agricultural Loans as well as ability to identify and refer individuals and businesses for Financial Advisory Services.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and self-managed, including setting personal goals.
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills, attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Able to work under pressure to process multiple tasks concurrently with a high degree of accuracy, and able to interact and maintain a positive attitude under challenging circumstances.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Requires completion of high school education.
  • Minimum of two years in a financial sales role, preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of management practices and techniques.
  • Requires knowledge of Credit Union lending procedures, consumer lending practices and credit granting criteria.
  • Highly motivated with a “can do” attitude
  • The preferred candidate will have a background in real estate, commercial/agricultural lending or investment advising.
  • Requires intermediate mathematical skills (calculations and concepts involving percentages, fractions, decimals, etc.).


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting 50% and standing 50%
  • Working at a computer 25% of the day
  • Utilizing the phone 50-60%
  • Bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, or crouching when appropriate, on occasion
  • Repetitive movements, including but not limited to typing, using a mouse, phones, etc.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push or pull up to approximately twenty-five pounds


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Actively works in the community, locations will vary based on need.
  • Working in external environments including but not limited to tabling events, manufacturing/industrial administrative buildings, as well as outside fairs and events.
