Southern Tail Brewing is Hiring a General Manager Near Little Rock, AR

Southern Tail Brewing is seeking an energic and passionate general manager to join our team. This is an opportunity to join in the development of Arkansas’s next great entertainment destination. ST Brewing’s mission is to create a pet-centric family forward venue where we locally craft our own beer, food, and fun. Our concept is an Arkansas Craft Brewery with a full restaurant and outdoor entertainment space that will attract beer aficionados, families, and sports fans alike. ST Brewing’s general manager will help establish the foundations of the operation, onboard staff, and be public facing leader for our business during opening.

Southern Tail Brewing is unique from other craft beer breweries in that we have a charitable contribution integrated into the sale of our craft beers that will be donated to local animal charities. We want our patrons to feel a sense of purpose when selecting to visit us or purchase our brand. All ST Brewing employees will need to share our passion for making a difference in the lives of our four-legged friends and believe in our conviction that every success the brewery enjoys is ultimately theirs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Developing and implementing strategies to achieve business goals and objectives.

  • Lead Southern Tail Brewing by envisioning, forming, and executing new and creative opportunities to accrue revenue, achieve our goals, and stand above the competition within the industry.

2. Overseeing the company's day-to-day operations, including managing budgets, resources, and employees.

  • Hire a team of employees and work to create a cohesive unit of people who effectively communicate. Manage the training, scheduling, and annual employee review process.
  • Create a hiring process for key staff that ensures qualified people are selected, trained, and retained through top recruiting practices.
  • Review actions of employees in various situations that deem rewarding or disciplinary action.
  • Supervise tap room and restaurant staff, including managing FOH.
  • Follow and constantly improving standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain the menu and Point of Sale System (ensuring POS system reflect availability of products, most current pricing, and make recommendations for items to be removed/improved).
  • Oversee the retail sales (merchandise, beer, etc) including retail set-up, inventory, and sales.
  • Organize incentive programs, promotions, or other methods to incentivize FOH staff to promote and position products appropriately.

3. Monitoring market and industry trends to determine business opportunities and challenges.

  • Develop strategies to entice customers, including marketing plans, advertising campaigns, community outreach programs and research.
  • Aware of current trends in Little Rock or other major cities brewery and restaurant industry.
  • Be an advocate of the trends within the industry to staff. Help drive current trends to sales.

4. Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and partners.

  • Constantly seek to establish new business partnerships, as well as enrich existing relationships with key businesses.
  • Strive to create a smooth, delightful, and welcoming environment for our guests.
  • Able to receive guest complaints and provide appropriate remediation in response.
  • Support and guide our employees during both positive and challenging customer interactions. Be willing to step in as necessary to maintain an atmosphere of respect and limit disruption to other customers.

5. Ensuring business compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations for food handling and sanitation standards, alcohol serving, and OSHA compliance
  • Follow all appropriate health code and local jurisdiction food handling requirements, maintain food safety certifications, and model exemplary food health and alcohol safety practices to employees.

6. Analyzing data and performance metrics to make informed decisions

  • Prepare an accurate portrayal of the finances of the restaurant, including bank accounts, spending, check pricing goals and food costs.
  • Maintain extremely organized, and detail-oriented data over different metrics of the business.

Requirements:

  • ServeSafe certified within 30 days of hire date (paid for by ST Brewing)
  • Previous experience working in Brewery and/or restaurant with 150 covers
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) or Google Docs/Spreadsheet experience
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a restaurant management position (FOG and BOH)
  • Experience in a high volume setting
  • Knowledge about driving sales and meeting financial goals
  • Results driven individual with demonstrated record of prior success
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with customers and employees
  • Experience developing strategies that reduce costs and increase sales within the company.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with the startup of a new business
  • Experience using Arryved POS
  • Cicerone Certification
  • Bi-Lingual
  • Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality or restaurant management

  • All employees will attend Southern Tail Brewing school to learn about our operation, the beer and food, and how to be a successful team member.
  • If your role requires it, ST Brewing will pay for your ServSafe Alcohol and/or ServSafe FoodSafety certificate.
  • Cicerone Certified Beer Server is covered by STBrewing for all employees after one year of service.
