Position Summary

Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm is seeking a full-time Asset Management Analyst to join our dynamic team in New York. The Asset Management Associate will support the implementation of long-term strategies for Southern Land Company’s growing portfolio of communities. This role will monitor, measure, and analyze asset performance and is assigned tasks that will require strong attention to detail, interest in data analysis and experience using Yardi, and Excel. This individual must possess the ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment and be enthusiastic about joining a rapidly growing company.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform financial analysis of properties including operating statements, budget and variance review, loan administration and borrower support, workout and foreclosure analysis, lease analysis, appraisal, and engineering report reviews, etc.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Asset Management reports - updating and re-forecasting property performance and budgets.
  • Monitor, measure and analyze asset performance and assess assets against proforma and budget expectations and analyze variances.
  • Conduct market research to determine various factors impacting property level performance.
  • Monitor and audit accuracy of property reporting.
  • Proactively follows-up on issues and initiatives for senior leaders to ensure successful resolution and implementation.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with other work groups.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers on the phone and in person.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, and carry multiple projects through to completion.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

Required Education and Experience

  • College degree
  • Real estate internship up to 3 years related real estate experience
  • Experience with Yardi property management software.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting review.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and communicate complex regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures; experience with fair housing laws and local landlord/tenant laws.
