FIS OPERATIONS MANAGER
The FIS (Federal Inspection Station) Operations Manager is crucial to the airport’s airside operations.
The professional in this position will plan and oversee the daily operations of the FIS team to ensure goals and objectives are achieved while meeting all relevant federal and state operational aviation regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Operations Manager will be to organize and direct the FIS Agents and Ambassadors working at the Airside. The main goal of the team is to service international passengers efficiently, through planning, organizing, supervising, and problem-solving, while effectively and timely communicating with Customs Border Protection (CBP) and GOAA management.
The manager for this contract shall be a full-time employee based at the MCO Terminal and shall devote his/her time exclusively to managing operations related to FIS at the Orlando International Airport.
Must be fully familiar with the requirements of his/her responsibilities.
Is responsible for all day-to-day operations, performance, supervision, and control of services provided, and ensure that these services are performed in an effective and efficient manner.
Shall ensure that work responsibilities are allocated properly among subordinates by the development and implementation of manpower schedules for proper shift coverage as operation demands.
Required to interview and hire employees with the appropriate skills, to ensure the proper staffing levels are met.
Will be responsible for the training of his/her employees to ensure compliance with all provision’s duties.
Shall implement policies and procedures relating to all services covered by the application of specifications.
Must ensure the safety of all the employees by adhering to regulations and standards as prescribed by OSHA, as well as all other Federal, State, and Local Authority mandated safety requirements.
Will perform all 90-day evaluations and/or yearly performance appraisals.
Required to issue reports and summaries as needed and upon request.
Shall perform any additional duties as required basis.
Requirements
At least seven (7) years’ experience in managing service operations.
At least five (5) years’ experience in the Aviation industry.
Customer Service driven.
Experience in managing contracts of similar size and scope, including managing supervisory staff and personnel, handling employment issues, inventories, and utilizing computerized management software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software.
Availability to work flexible schedules including nights/holidays and weekends.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to lift baggage at 75 pounds or above.
Capable and licensed to drive a motor vehicle.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, reach with arms and hands. Must be able to lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision. Hearing abilities required.
This position operates in the secured area of the airport and requires a security badge with customs seal. applicants requesting unescorted access to the sterile or secured areas of the airport must undergo and pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check as provided by applicable state and federal law. applicants must be able to pass SIDA test.
