Location: Avon Park, FL Category: Support Staff Posted On: Wed Oct 11 2023 Job Description:

Full-time, year-round position to perform various specialized duties in the Financial Aid Office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits good communications skills and cooperation with all College staff as a participating member of the Student Services team.
  • Coordinates and processes Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information on all state Financial Aid programs as required by the Director of Financial Aid.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.
  • Enters/imports/exports data pertaining to sources of financial aid into the computer system via FTP and ED and the state system, and coordinates financial aid award information between the Financial Aid Office and the Business Office.
  • Serves as a contact for students seeking information about Financial Aid.
  • Responsible for contacting the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) for student eligibility, lists for merit scholarships, and student assistance grants and tracking accordingly.
  • Processes data for the FLDOE report on Bright Futures scholarships.
  • Completes FASFA verifications, and conducts audits on corrections coming back from the Central Processor.
  • Sends Tracking Letters to students who have outstanding requirements.
  • Provides calculations for Basic Law Enforcement programs and communicates with students.
  • Conducts financial aid workshops and training sessions for SFSC campuses and centers as needed.
  • Attends courses, workshops, and seminars as needed to remain current.
  • Assists with the overall effectiveness of the office especially during peak processing times and with projects that have priority and deadlines.
  • Works evening hours as required.
  • Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts.
  • Acts in accordance with College policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:


Educational:
Associate degree required. (At least five years of experience in a college or university financial aid office may substitute for the degree requirement.)

Experiential: Minimum three years of related office experience preferred. Financial Aid Office experience strongly preferred.

Other: Computer literacy in word processing, data base and electronic spreadsheet software desirable.
