The HR Generalist is responsible for various aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources functions and responsibilities. The HR Generalistwill play a key role in providing HR guidance and support in developing and building strong relationships with operational areas and employees and will support the HR Manger with employee relations, HR policies and procedures, performance management, merit, etc. 

This role is core to our providing our employees with HR support. This role is highly visible and is responsible for deliverables such as maintaining people systems, creating reports, and assisting with people related programs.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Payroll: make changes in the HRIS related to any new hires, terms, changes, etc. This person would be running reports from the HRIS, verifying timesheet entries, and auditing data entry. Payroll is processed every week for over 260 employees and bi-weekly for 60 employees, Problem solving complex pay issues 
  • Assist and support management and the leadership team with handling and resolving Human Resources issues. Assist employees with internal and external transfer requests and procedures 
  • Maintain employee data in HRIS to ensure accuracy and control of HR information 
  • Work with HR reporting Tools to monitor and share relevant KPIs 
  • Maintains department files in accordance with the Company retention policy/guidelines
  • Assists with preparation and recommendations for annual hourly compensation review 
  • Assist in administering leaves of absence, FMLA and short-term disability programs. 
  • Assists HR Manager with employee investigations (serving as a witness, translator, gathering personnel records, time reports, i.e.) 
  • Advises managers/supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the Company. Provides counsel to managers/supervisors on employment issues. 
  • Works to maximize positive employee relations and minimize potential liabilities. 
  • Serves as a point person to employees with questions related to benefits, payroll, employee relations, policies, procedures, etc. 
  • Manage full cycle of Tuition Reimbursement Program- from employee request to approval to reimbursement 
  • Develop and implement team member retention initiatives. Lead programs and events to foster high morale, including community involvement, team member celebrations, company picnic and holiday events 
  • Ensure compliance with all HR rules and regulations (EE files, HIPPA rules, EEOC, Affordable Market Plans , etc.) 
  • Participate in department initiatives and projects as requested. 
  • Back-up to HR Coordinator in administering benefits and recruitment 
  • Back-up to HR Manager in employe relations, coaching, training, operational needs, operations crewing report, etc. 
  • Back up to attendance line, tracking and issuing warnings 
  • Constantly looking to improve current processes, programs, and overall employee experience 
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and modern technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. 
  • Production presence- weekly presence in production for visibility and accessibility to answering employee questions/issues 
Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE 

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Human Resources, Business, or related field and 2 years related experience and/or training. 
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish.
  • 5 Years of experience preferred. 

PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Knowledge of employment law practices. 
  • Proficiency in MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical skills 
  • Ability to interact with a host of different personalities. 
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and organization, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and wear different hats. 
  • Ability to adapt to changes and remain calm in ambiguous situations. 
  • Positive customer-first mindset who understands the importance of prioritizing time-sensitive tasks and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to balance conflicting points of view, function effectively under pressure and demonstrate discretion, integrity and fair-mindedness 
  • Initiative-taking individual with great initiative and ability to work independently.

  • Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation.

  • Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the plant area.
