Smurfit Kappa North America is Hiring a Senior Purchasing Manager Near Irving, TX
- Develops relationships with buyers and category managers at customer accounts
- Follows all pertinent ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 procedures and assures that activities adhere to CBC's quality and environmental systems
- Directs the evaluation and certification of providers to ensure that standards be subject to environmental quality
- Negotiates with supplier's corporate purchases, seeking the best possible price, form and delivery time
- Works alongside receiving department and accounts payable to ensure that promised deliveries were received in full and are being paid for on time
- Maintains procurement records such as items or service purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
- Reviews and approves contracts for new products and suppliers
- Evaluates the performance of providers to correct deviations from the contracted terms
- Establishes inventory controls systems to avoid unnecessary purchases and wastage due to expiry or improper storage
- Analyzes consumer trends and authorizes purchase orders to ensure the supply of raw material
- Participates in month ending inventory
- Estimates values according to knowledge of market price
- Selects products for purchase by testing, observing or examining items
- Negotiate multi -- plant contracts and agreements for supply of goods and services for cost reduction, quality improvement and group synergies
- Train plant purchasing staff in procurement best practices
- Identify and achieve cost savings available by leveraging Smurfit Kappa spend size and management strength
- Support plant operations by monitoring suppliers service and quality levels for both long term continuous improvement and specific interventions when necessary
- Liaise with Plant Controller, Plant General Managers, SKNA Mexico Finance, SKNA/ SKTA/ SKG sourcing functions
- Responsible for increasing working capital through improving vendor payment terms
- Risk Management duties include increasing purchasing spend tied to Long Term Agreements to limit price increase risk and lower supply disruption risk
- May be assigned to other projects and duties
