SUMMARY: The Consultant will identify and manage customer-based projects that seek to provide value and solutions to the customer. This role will work collaboratively with various groups across Smithers to provide a solution to the customer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Operate with a business development mindset.
• Work in the non-tire rubber landscape.
o Plastic markets
o Packaging markets
o Non-tire markets
• Work with customers to understand and identity their needs and how Smithers can be of value to them.
• Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver customer with the results that are desired.
• Facilitate communication and coordination efforts with third-party firms when necessary.
• Facilitate an environment that fosters and supports continuous improvement and demonstrates a sense of urgency that results in a commitment to quality results.
• Use appropriate problem-solving tools such as value stream mapping and process stream mapping to provide rapid improvement with sustainable results.
• May lead or mentor junior staff.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Process Management, Supply Chain, Operations, or equivalent experience required
• Advanced degree preferred
• Ten (10) years of business experience in a service, engineering or manufacturing related industry preferred
• Exhibits positive leadership at a role model level.
• Ability to operate with a strategic focus.
• Proven ability to plan and manage projects in a fast-paced environment, accomplishing objectives through others.
• Highly effective interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain solid relationships at all levels throughout the organization and utilize these relationships to achieve successful integrations.
• Ability to learn, analyze situations and resolve issues with minimal assistance and supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to listen and communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
