Overview

THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION BUT CANDIDATE MUST LIVE IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING STATES: MN, IL, WI, VA, GA, MS, CA, FL, ID or NY.

The Manager Grants Accounting is accountable for collecting all grant funding received by Ampact including the grant, accounting and financial reporting. This includes ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of required financial reporting and grant collections. Confirm adherence to grant specific requirements; GAAP; FASB pronouncements; applicable federal, state, county and city laws; OMB regulations including 2 CFR 200; and internal control compliance. Observe confidentiality of all accounting, payroll, employee, member and organizational information.

Responsibilities

    Accountable for Grant Spending (70%)
    1. Accountable for ensuring funding is completely and appropriately spent.
    2. Analyze budget to actual performance for individual grants; working with program teams on areas of concern to ensure all funding is appropriately spent.
    3. Communicate with other accounting teams regarding needed changes to grant coding to ensure appropriate funding is being utilized.
    4. Maximize cash flow by developing processes and procedures to ensure timely submission of grant collection reports and paperwork.
    5. Review and approve collection and financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
    6. Accountable for compliance with all financial grant requirements, including OMB regulations, 2 CFR 200 and grant specific requirements.
    7. Direct, train, mentor and review the work of Grants Accountants
    8. Oversee invoicing for site fees, technical assistance costs and other grant match collections
  • Budgeting (15%):
    1. Provide guidance to Financial Analyst in the development of AmeriCorps budgets, to ensure appropriate budget dollars by category and to meet match requirements.
    2. Review and approve match budgets to both ensure match requirements are met and funding can be completely utilized.
    3. Provide input for program reforecasting.
    4. Review match budget reforecasts to ensure budget amendments are completed as needed.
    5. Work with other staff in the planning for new programs and grant development.
  • Oversee Accounting Processes (10%):
    1. Accountable for revenue reporting, ensuring that revenue is recorded and classified according to GAAP and FASB requirements.
    2. Responsible for maintaining net assets balances and reporting to management, identifying restricted vs unrestricted funds.
    3. Collaborate with other accounting staff in creating and maintaining appropriate cost allocations
    4. Complete required tasks for year-end audit and other financial monitoring.
  • Miscellaneous (5%):

Performs special projects or assignments as directed

Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of five years relevant grant, non-profit, or fund accounting experience.
  • Experience with government and private grant reporting and fund accounting methodologies
  • Demonstrated competence in financial analysis, complex problem solving, staff supervision and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of 2 CFR, FASB, and GAAP.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems.
  • Oracle NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Proactive, self-directed individual motivated to continually evaluate and improve processes and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, time management and organization skills.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Must have the ability to travel locally, statewide and nationally to attend meetings
