SLATE is Hiring a Chief Financial Officer Near Brooklyn, NY

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated chief financial officer to provide critical support for the strategic growth of the company. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing the forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis processes, as well as providing strategic financial insights to support the organization's growth and profitability. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of financial management principles, and a proven track record of driving process improvements.

This position can be located in Slate’s New York or D.C. offices. We will consider remote work for the right candidate.

The annual base pay for this position is $200,000–$250,000, and is eligible to earn variable compensation, which may include annual bonuses and long-term incentives. Final base salary will be determined by numerous factors, including relevant skills and experience.

Responsibilites

  • Transform financial data into strategic insights, guiding operational leaders towards increased profitability through meaningful dialogue and proactive financial planning
  • Manage and oversee the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business development and growth across the organization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial plans with strategic objectives
  • Oversee the monthly financial reporting process, including management reporting
  • Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Evaluate potential investments, mergers, and acquisitions to support growth initiatives
  • Mentor and develop Finance team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
Requirements
  • Deep knowledge of the operating metrics of subscription media businesses
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA and/or CPA a bonus. Those with relevant work experience are also encouraged to apply
  • 10 years relevant experience in financial planning and analysis, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Expert financial modeling and analytical skillsIn-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and management reportingProven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a results-driven mindset
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to interact with all levels of management and external parties
  • Ability to handle projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Proficient in MS Excel and financial software applications, such as Oracle
