Skilken Gold is Hiring an Assistant Project Manager Near Columbus, OH

The Assistant Project Manager’s primary role is assisting a project manager(s) on the development activities of a project. Under the direction of a project manager, the role will assist on predevelopment and project management tasks. These tasks produce deliverables that contribute to the management of project feasibility, scope, budget and schedule. The role will be expected to work collaboratively with internal and external parties. This role is a path to becoming a Development Project Manager.

  • Assist a project manager in all phases and aspects of the project.
  • Provide support for preconstruction managers and construction managers when assigned by the project manager.
  • Follow the company’s best practices.
  • Learn about real estate development and the key processes and procedures utilized to make projects successful.
  • Use the latest technology to produce work and bring creative ideas and thought to help the Skilken Gold team be more effective and efficient.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Pre-Development and zoning research
  • Project set-up: This includes standard network filing folders, meeting minute templates, reports, scheduling templates. The Development Team is utilizing two main cloud-based tools to manage projects, smartsheet and Procore. The role will assist with data input into these tools.
  • Attend all project meetings as requested by PM and keep detailed meeting minutes for publishing to project team. Prepare project meeting agendas and associated attachments as directed by the PM.
  • Report generation and dashboard management.
  • Pre-construction research. Examples include ownership, property boundaries, zoning, municipal regulations, easements, utility locations, parcel information, ownership, boundaries, local restrictions, architectural review board requirements, topography, and traffic studies.
  • Assist the review of contracts and become familiar with terms & conditions.
  • Initial title commitment and survey review and analysis
  • Zoning and permit application support
  • Meeting coordination
  • Construction drawing review and version management.
  • Work with the PM to obtain all necessary development permits as requested by the PM.
  • Assist the PM to complete consultant and sub-contractor evaluations/comparisons of bids, scope review, and complete buyout as requested by PM.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, Business, Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering
  • The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of project experience within a real estate development company, an architectural engineering firm or a construction company.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. .
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Adobe Products and Project.
  • Not required but preferred: Knowledge of cloud-based project management systems.
  • Knowledge of project management process
