GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Teacher must be able to consistently, and successfully perform all essential functions of the position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support in facilitating and monitoring of the continual evaluation of each child’s progress.
• Support in facilitating direction, resources, and support to the program staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating program curriculum.
• Support in providing leadership and guidance to children, families, and staff
• Support with the implementation of SJB Curriculum.
• Establish a climate of respect for each child’s individual personality, physical characteristics and traits, culture, language and ethnic characteristics, family structure, developmental needs and behaviors.
• Establish and maintain a positive relationship with each child’s parent and/or caregivers.
• Relate to all children in encouraging and positive ways.
• Nurture and facilitate the learning experience by meeting each child at their point of need through a variety of teaching methods, which include but are not limited to individualized care and small group experiences.
• Interact daily with each child and support his or her learning process.
• Manage and implement a positive approach of combining consistency, empathy, and culturally diverse practices.
• Supports with the orientation process of families.
• Support in the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum activities for children.
• Provide direct support, engagement, and extension of a child’s play and learning experiences by offering assistance and providing resources.
• Support in designing interest areas to provide choices, opportunities for safe risks, and challenge children to interact, learn, create, and thrive while corresponding with the developmental and individual needs of each child, thus fostering the desire to learn.
• Support Classroom and Behavior Management
• Offer clear expressions of expectations with natural and logical consequences.
• Conduct Parent Conferences and Home Visits (4 Parent Conferences- 2 Home Visits annually)
• Prepare DRDP assessments for each child (3 annually)
• Handle all paperwork and follow associated with Mental Health assessments and Referrals
• Be familiar with the needs of each family and follow the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP)
• Monitor and comply within EHS 30, 45, 90 day mandates
• Maintain a Family Communication Log for each child
ADMINISTRATIVE
• Plan, supervise, and implement the program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of SJB Child Development Centers.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings.
• Participate in bi-weekly program meetings.
• Support with daily attendance of children.
• Supports in maintaining accurate updates of records at site including but not limited to: enrollment, attendance, CACFP, communication logs, curriculum, child observations, and parent participation.
• Participate in bi-monthly parent meetings as directed by Site Supervisor.
• Support with all proper documentation by deadlines, to include, but not limited to DRDPR’s, ITERS, ECERS, SACERS, Environmental Rating Scales, Lesson Plans, etc.)
HEALTH AND SAFETY
• Support in the monitoring of the provision of a safe, secure, clean, and challenging environment for children, families and staff.
• Support in the implementation of monthly fire drills, earthquake drills, and annual disaster drills.
• Support in reporting safety hazards and injuries the Teacher immediately.
• Follow health and safety standards for children, families, and staff.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Travel when necessary to conduct SJB business.
• Support Site Supervisor in meeting all Licensing and Sub-Contractor Regulations, Funding, Terms & Conditions, SJB policies & procedures, and the Education Code where applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and employees.
• Work as a member of the SJB team by promoting the mission, values, and philosophy of SJB.
• Network with community and early childhood professionals.
• Network with related outreach organizations to remain current on issues affecting children and families as directed by Site Supervisor.
• Support with determining program/site needs and informs Teacher.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 12 to 17 Semester units in ECE or CD units (including 3 core areas of “CUR” =Curriculum, “CFC” =Child Family Community, “CGD” =Child Growth Development") as well as 50 days of teaching experience in last 2 years.
• Associate Teacher Permit or eligibility to obtain an Associate Teacher permit
• 6 months Experience as an Assistant Teacher in a group care environment.
• Current TB Clearance, physical screening, and First Aide and CPR Certification.
• Active Fingerprint Clearance with DSS/CCL and/or submittal of Fingerprint Cards with signed Criminal Record Statement prior to employment.
• Must possess California Drivers License and meet minimum insurance requirements for personal vehicle and have a driving record which meets the standards set forth in Administrative Regulation 4532 and 4533.
KNOWLEDGE OF

• Update TB Clearance and physical screening annually
• Update First Aid and CPR certification annually
• Complete 21 hours of Professional Development training annually
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures with conformance to the prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from government entities, employees, managers, clients, and the general public. Bilingual a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts with a 10 Key.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables, occasionally in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
