Signalink is Hiring a Linux System Administrator Near Redstone, AL

Overview: 

Signalink, a rapidly growing small company, is currently seeking a Linux System Administrator to join the team as an integral member of a group of government, military, and contractor personnel that support a Software/Hardware-in-the-loop (S/HWIL) testing laboratory by maintaining and optimizing IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

The Linux System Admin will work with a team in the design, implementation, and operation/maintenance of server infrastructure. This includes the following technologies: Linux, VMWare, as well as a host of other associated software and hardware vendors. The Linux Systems Admin will create and utilize automation via Ansible, PowerShell and Bash scripting. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure solutions consistent with applicable policies, processes, and associated standards. This includes development and deployment of Linux Kickstart images for system configuration.
  • Manage multiple server environments to include the architecture, security, administration, project, and customer needs. The position will install new software releases, perform system upgrades, install and evaluate new patches, resolve software related problems, perform backup/restore/rollback and disaster recovery operations in Linux Infrastructure environments.
  • Perform regular application administrative tasks, monitor systems, and respond to alerts. To maintain Red Hat and Red Hat based Linux systems.
  • Perform continuous health monitoring, improve the stability/performance of the Linux systems, and troubleshoot problems of various malfunctions of hardware and software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
  • Monitor system logs and activities to ensure the integrity and availability of Linux-based services.
  • Perform regular system updates and ensure system backups are in place and effective.
  • Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and mitigation of vulnerabilities as directed by IA based on scan findings and applicable DoD direction.

Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an applicable field
  • 3-7 years of relevant work experience
  • CompTIA Security Certification
  • High level of technical expertise in Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and working with classified systems
  • Skill in shell command line usage, scripting, and using automation tools
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Experience and Knowledge: 

  • Experience in a mixed Windows and Linux environment
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA®), CompTIA Linux , or other applicable certifications
