The Physical Therapist Assistant performs physical treatments and procedures to help improve mobility, reduce and restore maximum function and relieve pain under the direction of the Physical Therapist.
Primary Responsibilities
1) Provide Physical Therapy treatments and procedures to clients under the direction of a Physical Therapist, and in accordance with physician orders.
2) Collaborate with the IDT (interdisciplinary team) and Physical Therapist to ensure adequate and appropriate flow of services.
3) Provide support and counseling to individuals and families concerning loss of function, and coping with issues as they relate.
4) Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and organization requirements.
5) Assist in maintenance of up-to-date programs and techniques to enhance physical therapy services provided.
6) Support various other Rehab responsibilities as needed.
Job Specifications
Education, Experience and Credentials
• Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program from an accredited college by Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) required.
• One or more years’ hands-on experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant working with a geriatric population preferred.
• Must be registered and licensed with the State of Minnesota as a Physical Therapist Assistant and must maintain licensure.
• CPR/First Aid certified through American Red Cross required.
