Shoals Technologies Group, LLC is a recognized leader in the renewable energy industry whose solutions are deployed on over 20 GW of solar systems globally.Job Overview: As the Business Development Manager of PV, eMobility, and BESS, you will play a critical role in shaping our company's growth strategy and driving revenue in these exciting and rapidly evolving sectors. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, develop, and execute business opportunities. Your responsibilities will include market analysis, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and contract negotiations, all with the goal of establishing Shoals as a leader in the utility solar, EV, and BESS markets. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the solar energy industry, excellent communication skills, and a passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the PV, EV, and BESS US sectors. Drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utility companies, utility cooperatives, and public power entities, understanding their energy needs and promoting the benefits of utility-scale solar solutions.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential clients, understand market trends, and stay informed about industry developments.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to develop tailored sales strategies, proposals, and presentations that effectively communicate the value proposition of utility solar projects.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments and technical evaluations of utility customers to understand their energy requirements, load profiles, and feasibility for solar integration.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on solar project design, financial modeling, regulatory requirements, and project development processes.
  • Lead negotiations, contract discussions, and commercial agreements with utility clients, ensuring alignment with company goals and profitability targets.
  • Coordinate closely with project development teams, engineering, and finance departments to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Actively participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to expand the company's presence and promote utility solar solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, policy changes, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and potential challenges.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on business development progress, market trends, and key performance indicators.
  • Identify and assess new business opportunities, partnerships, and investment prospects in utility solar, EV, and BESS projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven track record of success with 10 years’ experience in B2B sales, preferably in the utility, renewable energy, or energy services sector.
  • Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of the utility industry, including market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of utility-scale solar energy systems, including technical aspects, project economics, and financing models.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to analyze data, financial models, and project proposals to make informed business decisions.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven, with the ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to client sites, industry events, and company headquarters as required.
