COMMUNITY LIVING MANAGER (CLM) / House Manager

Knoxville, TN

Job Type: FULL TIME - Day Shift 8am to 8pm, Includes alternating weekends

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Summary:  We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate CLM/ House Manger to oversee daily operations and provide support to residents in our well-maintained residential homes. Responsible for the health and welfare of the Persons Supported providing a "family" type home atmosphere. Manages all activities of the home including but not limiting food, supplies budgeting and recreational. Acts as part of a team and fills in the gaps in emergency situations. Oversees the work and notes of 2-5 Direct Support Professionals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure health & safety of Persons Supported by assuring adequate exercise, maintaining up-to-date posting of medical/emergency information, ensuring house is hazard-free routinely, training in fire evacuation, maintaining clean/sanitary environment and reporting any maintenance needs promptly. Document fire drills. 
  2. Ensure family atmosphere through interaction, counseling, outings, conversation, etc.
  3. Meet Persons Supported needs through training and supervising cleaning of location, meal preparation, all shopping and personal hygiene.
  4. Ensure that therapies training are implemented and managed at home.
  5. Meet monthly with RC (Residential Coordinator) and CM (Case Manager) to discuss both positives and negatives related to the home. 
  6. Develop menus and shop for groceries with the Persons Supported according to special diets/proper nutrition and within food budget and food stamp allowances. Post all menus/special diets for easy access for the Persons Supported and other staff (DSPs & RCs) on the refrigerator. 
  7. Plan and follow through with regularly scheduled recreational activities at the house and within the local community; document activities in Timas system.
  8. Prepare activity sheet weekly for each person supported in the home. Place the copy of the sheet in the RA (Residential Admin.) mailbox the week after the activities are done.
  9. Take inventory monthly of first-aid supplies and replenish as needed with items from the maintenance department, clinic or the store. 
  10. Maintain house records in an orderly and up to date manner in their respective binders, (i.e., residential file-green binder, personal binder any color, ISP red binder, etc.). Ensure binders are located for easy access for staff.
  11. Schedule all staffing needs monthly; responsible for replacement staff or working open shifts when there are call outs in assigned house.
  12. Train residents in use of public transportation or secure transportation as needed (KAT Bus, taxi and uber). 
  13. Administer medications and other medical treatments. Maintain weekly count and re-order as necessary according to agency policy and procedures; report medication errors, complete necessary paperwork required for med. variances (disciplinary and retraining).
  14. Responsible for monthly med audits during the QA-ing of the meds.
  15. Responsible for the accuracy of the weekly allowance in Timas and in the money box. Ensure that receipts are documented immediately after each transaction. Help with checking change, cashing checks, & educating Persons Supported on financial/spending skills.
  16. Attend circles of support, and all other trainings deemed necessary for person supported.
  17. Responsible for providing monthly staff and person supported house meetings.
  18. Maintain the vehicle i.e., regular cleaning, monthly mileage form vehicle maintenance form with monthly reports. Report promptly any vehicle problems to the on-call Maintenance supervisor.
  19. Familiarize self with licensure, fire marshal and quality assurance standards and maintain home within these standards at all times.
  20. Work closely with all pertinent staff as a team member to assure highest standards and best quality of life for the Persons Supported.
  21. Communicate with RC and appropriate staff immediately regarding any concerns, problems, for both staff and Persons Supported.
  22. Complete employee performance evaluation for those you supervise with the assistance of your RC before the due date and submit these to DRS.
  23. Complete at least three Personal Outcomes Measures Interview per year.

This will be accomplished through showing consistent respect of co-workers, recognition of the diversity that is present in the workplace, and practicing an unbiased disposition of Sertoma Center business. 
  2. You will contribute to the mission and principles of the Sertoma Center by continually being dedicated to serving person supported. This will be achieved by remaining alert to new concepts which will improve or enhance either your job individually, the Persons Supported, or the collective functions of the Sertoma Center. 
  3. Your personal effort is required in order to support the Sertoma Center’s guiding principle of “will utilize sound fiscal principles that stress cost containment”. This will be accomplished by your efforts to control overtime expense, turnover of direct support staff, reduction in replacement costs of home inventories due to theft/misuse/mismanagement, and a dedication to safety and quality control.
  4. You will adhere to an acceptable level of professionalism to ensure confidentiality and discretion maintained at All times.
  5. You will observe all Center routine with regard to work schedules, presence during working hours which conforms to those of the Sertoma Center, designated periods of break time, lunch hour, etc.
  6. You will strive to perform all work assignments and activities in an acceptable manner so as to require minimal supervision.
  7. You will perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Senior Director of Residential Services, Residential Coordinator and Residential Assistant. 
  8. Your regular attendance is a job requirement; more than one unplanned absence in a two month period is considered excessive.
  9. You must establish and maintain good working relationships with coworkers and Persons Supported.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of DSP/ Caregiver experience
  • Experience working in a residential setting with individuals with intellectual disabilities. 
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Familiarity with relevant DIDD/ ECF regulations and standards
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Requirements:

  • High-School Diploma / GED
  • Advanced degree (preferred) 
  • Valid TN Driver’s License 
  • No more than 3 moving violations on your MVR within the past 3 years
  • US work authorization
  • Able to pass drug test at any time
