Title: Career Assistant
Department: College Scholars
Reports To: Career Readiness Manager
FLSA: Part-time, Seasonal
Compensation: $25.00 Hourly
Start/End Dates: January 15, 2024 - August 31, 2024
LOCATION/HOURS
This is a part-time, remote position based out of our New York City office location. It is expected that position duties will be performed remotely. Occasional travel to the office may be required for meetings and events with the understanding that SEO will consult government and public health advisories to help us determine the extent to which it is safe to carry out in-person and onsite activities.

About College Scholars
SEO Scholars is a free eight-year academic program that successfully educates and mentors underserved public high school students from low-income backgrounds to and through college. In college, we continue to support students through each of their four years, providing one-on-one academic, personal and career exploration support. Our team supports more than 1,000 College Scholars attending ~200 colleges across 31 states, with a 90% college graduation rate. (Learn more here: SEO Scholars)
Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Part Time Career Assistant works with SEO College Scholars to support graduates of NYC and SF public high schools attending colleges across the country by providing year-round career support through individualized meetings and career material reviews. Work schedule is up to 20 hours a week, January 15, 2024, through August 31, 2024.
Design, edit, and update college participant resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and written application materials as needed for content and general formatting
Provide feedback to program participants on editing and improving written application materials for internships, jobs, and other competitive positions via one-on-one review through video conferencing and email communications
Conduct and provide feedback on mock interviews conducted in person or via video and online platforms such as Zoom
Maintain confidentiality of information exposed to during data entry regarding students
Utilize Salesforce systems, and additional technology platforms such as Microsoft Excel
Occasional evening and weekend work are required, dependent on program needs
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in English, Communication, Journalism, Human Resources, or related field
At least 1-2 years of professional experience working with college students; 1-2 years professional editing experience preferred
Experience in maintaining accurate records and tracking projects with multiple tasks and phases
Highly detail-oriented and organized approach to tasks while able to meet competing deadlines
Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written and interpersonal
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Drive
Must be data driven, familiarity with Salesforce a plus

The compensation listed in this posting reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and SEO reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
