WHAT DOES A CAREER COUNSELOR DO?

As a Career Counselor at our human services nonprofit, you're the mastermind behind all the career success stories at our human services nonprofit. You'll be dishing out some seriously awesome individual and group career coaching sessions that cover everything from job performance to career advancement pathways in specific sectors, all while connecting career progression with education. And if that's not enough, you'll also be throwing in some other topics related to career advancement that will blow our participants' minds!

But wait, there's more! You'll also be making sure our participants get all the support they need to achieve their long-term career goals. That means referring them to childcare, health or mental health services, internal or external training, and any other services they may need along the way. Plus, you'll be facilitating some super cool professional development and life skills workshops that will help them build up their very own professional development portfolio.

And let's not forget about your amazing evaluation skills! You'll be conducting pre- and post-program evaluations, gathering feedback from our program participants about their education and placement experiences, challenges, and successes. Then, you'll provide that juicy feedback to our career and education services team so they can make our program services even better. You love working with our participants and helping them find success in their careers! Keep on doing what you do best! WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS A CAREER COUNSELOR

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling or education OR comparable work-related experience
  • 2 years of relevant experience in counseling, staffing, human resources, or workforce development
  • Experience in case management and/or career counseling as well as working with economically disadvantaged workers, welfare recipients, and vulnerable populations
