School Security Guard

Position Summary:
Security guards are required to work in a school setting. At the assigned school and under the direction of a supervisor, security guards will maintain order, reduce injury and property loss, provide routine protection of the facilities by making continuous mobile patrol tours around the property and foot patrols inside the building, serve as an initial security and safety responder for events, and escalate and/or report incidents as appropriate. They are expected to respond politely and in a courteous, professional manner to staff concerns.

Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform mobile and foot patrols for extended periods.
• Friendly, customer service-oriented attitude.
• Must be able to pass background and drug screening.
• Fit for overnight shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Flexible scheduling and availability.
• Possession of a PERC (Permanent Employee Registration Card) and a 20-hour security certificate.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise assigned areas within the school premises.
• Assist in maintaining overall security of the building or grounds.
• Patrol the buildings and grounds as scheduled via mobile and foot patrols.
• Lock and unlock doors as required.
• Document key areas checked during patrols.
• Regularly inspect corridors and stairwells for any security breaches.
• Maintain a high level of visibility and awareness at all times.
• Report any breaches of security to the client and supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.
• Report to school administration as appropriate.

Schedule:

• These are variable hourly positions and can change based on the needs of the business.
• Starting pay: $14.00/hour.
