Seattle Convention Center is Hiring a Regional Sales Manager Near Seattle, WA

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Sales, the Regional Sales Manager will promote and sell space and services offered by the Seattle Convention Center. This individual will be responsible for lead development, promotion solicitations, sales, bookings, and contract negotiation for regional/local market segments according to the booking policy with SCC. This role will also understand the unique needs and requirements of each client to create compelling proposals in order to win the business for SCC. Other responsibilities include professionally implementing sales activities to assure that goals are met with efficiency to maximize profits while delivering extraordinary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for full sales cycle, from "inquiry to contract." Guide the client from the initial event sourcing stage through the execution of a license agreement and ensure a smooth transition to Event Services and the in-house Service Partners.
  • Responsible to qualify, sell and negotiate new and returning regional/local business for the Center in accordance with the Booking Policy.
  • Research potential new business by analyzing information such as attendance, demographics, dates, space, ancillary services, room nights, and potential revenue.
  • Ensure the operational feasibility of all business in consideration of other concurrent or overlapping event activity and in accordance with established Center policies and procedures.
  • Create detailed, accurate event proposals with a strong understanding of space inventory.
  • Conduct facility tours to recommend appropriate space; address Center services and policies; and answer questions.
  • Negotiate contracts between the SCC and the client to maximize revenue; ensure compliance with follow policies and procedures, and applicable laws; ensure that all contractual terms are met; and collect all rent deposits/payments.
  • Build and maintain an on-going professional relationship with the client to support the earned business and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for efficient use of the Center’s event management system (Momentus) in the performance of daily activities such as vital client account, contact, event, and historical database maintenance; and to ensure that decisions/reports/forecasts to stakeholders are accurate.
  • Assist the Director of Sales and the Assistant Director of Sales in the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies and procedures to secure new and returning facility rentals; sell related facility services; and to optimize efficiency to maximize sales and revenue in two buildings.
  • Understand industry developments and trends to make recommendations for continuous improvement and ensure SCC remains competitive in offerings and service delivery within the marketplace.
  • Participate in the development of sales plans, forecasts, budgets, reports, and other documents/activities as directed.
  • Represent the Center professionally at company and client events that provide opportunity for networking and building strategic relationship within the community and assigned marketplace. Strive for a volunteer leadership role in assigned organizations.
  • May review the work of support staff by providing mentoring, technical guidance and/or training in daily activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office@ (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other related sales and space management databases.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of and successfully perform all duties, responsibilities, and department procedures in a calm, professional, safe, and effective manner
  • Perform all duties as a team member, in a professional productive manner, to ensure the successful operation of the SCC
  • Respond to multiple and sometimes pressure situations and function in an efficient, calm manner, using sound judgment, in all situations
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as directed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, hear, sit, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Business, Marketing, or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in hospitality sales, convention sales or related areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Momentus event software.
  • CMP certification.

*Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Pay: $80,985.00 - $121,477.00 /year based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule: Typically, Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work evenings/weekends dependent on event schedule. Hybrid schedule with 1-2 days per week remote available after 90 days of employment.
